Honey Bee

There are many health benefits to local raw honey. Honey will help to raise antioxident levels. Antioxidents fight free radicals - free radicals are unwanted in our bodies. Honey also has been used as a homeopathic remedy to relieve allergies by taking a spoonful or 2 a day, especially during the season that tickles you! It contains potassium and is also an antibiotic, antifungal, and antispectic. What does all that mean??

If you get a cut, scrape or burn, mix a tsp. of honey with a tsp. of olive oil along with a splash of lemon and apply to skin. Use this even on dry or itchy skin. Honey can also be used as an energy booster - make your own energy drink that helps to strengthen endurance and reduce muscle fatigue. Mix 2 cups water with a tbsp of honey and a squeeze of lemon! Shake it up baby! Honey is considered high glycemic so a little bit goes a long way.

Remember to add the honey to tea especially if you have a sore throat! I like to infuse flavors in the honey. As I make tea, if I add honey, I add it when the tea is warm. It'll allow the flavors to infuse nicely. Be careful again, not to scorch the honey! Simmer 1/8 cup of water with 1/8 cup honey on a very low heat. You don't want the temperature to get too high - you want to keep all the nutrients alive! Add sage or thyme- good for sore thoats too! Feel free to add whatever fruit may be in season - strawberries, blackberries, orange etc. As you make tea, drizzle some of your healthy honey syrup. Honey is a natural preservative. This should keep for a while. If you are over 21, you also have my permission to add some whiskey! Enjoy the honey tips!
