Diggin' in the Dirt

It's that time of year again (or at least in FL).   Its time to begin prepping the soil!  Towards the end of the summer, I begin to mentally prepare for the fall garden starting with the soil.  I took a year off from an in ground garden since I moved to a townhouse with only enough space for pots. I learned about container gardening and will continue to do some at my house. However, I've been eyeing this gorgeous garden down the street from where I live near Clearwater Beach, FL.  I met the 2 gardeners and have been giving them the thumbs up throughout the year as I've seen their crops grow through the seasons.

Inspiration!
This past summer I visited the NorthWest for my first time. I loved Washington and Oregon! Of course, I was so inspired by all the gardening out there including lavender fields, fresh foods and wineries. When I came back, I approached the gardeners from down the street and asked if I can join them. So....I now have a beautiful place to get my hands dirty!  We cleaned out the plots (pictures soon!) and loved on the soil. After a few weeks, we layed down the horse manure from a local stable. We churned it all together along with our compost. We'll begin some seeds this week and soon, we will have delicious edibles in the garden!  We are going to plant collard greens, mustard greens, swiss chard, kale, brocolli, celery, herbs and much more!

I'm so grateful and appreciative to have this sacred space!  And it's also a bonus to meet new friends and connect with. I see this growing in many ways!
